Participants of this 3rd annual road ride will be able to check in at the Lions Arena between 7:00 am to 8:30 am. Volunteers will be available to direct parking and guide you to the registration booth.
All participants of the ride must be well prepared with enough supplies (their Camelbaks or water bottles filled; plenty of Clif Bars and other eats; change of tubes and a tire pump...) in their backpack to get them through the 50-mile ride.
The ride begins promptly at 8:30 am.
Sag support will be available throughout the ride with a driver/mechanic at the ready.
From the Lions Arena, we head south along North Fork Drive, turning onto route 198, going through the picturesque town of Three Rivers as we embark on the next 12 miles, roller coasting along the banks of Lake Kaweah, passing favorite swimming holes, fishing spots, and the local marina filled with colorful houseboats.
As we enter the tiny hamlet of Lemoncove (population 190), and for the rest of the tour, we’ll be cycling past endless orange groves and cow pastures (and perhaps pass by a horse and/or a cowboy or two) until we enter into the more populated towns of Exeter (famous for it's building-size murals) and Woodlake with its winding 15 curves which will bring us back into the mountains and around Lake Kaweah, until we finally finish the ride where we began several hours earlier... the Lions Arena, for a well deserved meal, along with plenty of time until the sun sets for continued fun and fellowship.
Total road bike miles... 50
Total hours for ride... between 4 to 6 (back to Lions Arena by 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm)
For spouses and children who won’t be participating in the ride, there will be plenty of time during the event to explore the town of Three Rivers; check out the Kaweah Post Office, the 3rd smallest and oldest, continuously running post office in the country, or go into Sequoia National Park (California’s 1st and our country’s 2nd National Park) for a look at the giant sequoias (nature’s largest living organism) or a discovery of Crystal Cave or a fun climb up Moro Rock.
Just don’t forget to join the rest of us later on in the afternoon at the Lions Arena when we return from our ride for food, fun and fellowship...
