
Swedish born, Visalia resident, Catharina Berge (www.catharinaberge.com) is truly a mountain goat when it comes to cycling, as demonstrated by many 1st place finishes over the years in such spectacular races as... Fresno, California's 150-miler Climb to Kaiser The California and Nevada State Climbing Championship, also known as The Everest Challenge, for it's 29,000 feet of climbing over the 220 mile course Many 1st place finishes in Tandem cycling, including doing 456 miles in 24 hours And in 2005, Cat (as she is known to friends and fans alike) won 1st place in RAAM (Race Across America), and became the 2005 Ultracyclist of the Year
All this while earning her PhD in Preventive Veterinary Medicine.
In addition to her many cycling accomplishments and veterinarian work, Cat is also involved in Team Lunachix, a women's cycling group between Visalia and Fresno who meet monthly for rides, raising awareness and funds for Breast Cancer.
Cat's love for life and nature; her bubbly enthusiasm for whatever she does, especially in the form of cycling, make her a unique individual and a natural leader for this year's KFCCC ride.
On Saturday, September 13, 2008, Catharina Berge looks foreward to sharing smiles and miles as we gather to help those who cannot help themselves... children born with cleft lips and palates. |
